Here I am on the first day of school and I had no idea what I was getting into. As Robin has already stated earlier, I am loving the job so far. I truly feel that the education area fits me like those awesome sweaters that grandma gave us for christmas. It has been quite the adjustment starting with waking up so early in the morning. I come home exhuasted every day, sometimes in question of whether or not my students are grasping the concepts. Sometimes I think a handful of them are just so overwhelmed that they have no idea where to start explaining what it is they don't understand. I foresee that as a constant struggle for years to come. After two weeks I finally felt like I was getting my "teaching legs," then stupid Gustav decided to peek his ugly head and mess up my whole routine.
Baton Rouge got pretty hammered. We stuck it out with no power for two days but then couldn't handle it anymore and took off to Gulfport and stayed with Robin's family there. We are now glad to be back home not only in air conditioning but also in our own routines. Here are just a few shots from Gustav's visit:
This is a shot of the Winn Dixie two days after the storm. It was one of the only stores open in BR and as we drove by we saw hundreds of people waiting in line just to get inside of the store.
These pictures don't really show the true devastation of the city but I felt obligated.

Will you ever stay thru another one? Hopefully you wont have to make that choice, but it is a thought! Sure love you three!
