A blog update is LONG overdue. I just read our friends Jane and Jacob’s blog and was inspired to deliver an update as well. We Mangum’s have encountered some super stressful times these past several weeks which has halted all blogging, but we seem to be pulling it all together again. Brent’s first semester of grad school is OVER and he did quite well. I know he is happy with his decision to pursue his education and to put our family in a better situation that will provide more opportunities in the future. We’re happy to have him home in the evening for the next month before the super stressful year ahead. He’ll be going straight through this next year with a full load in the spring, and internship and class(es) in the summer, and a full load again in the fall. However, come this time next year he’ll (we’ll) be coasting downhill when it comes to his class load.
In other news, we just wrapped up our ward Christmas party this past weekend. It was pretty spectacular in my opinion. The theme this year was a WINTER WONDERLAND. There were an abundant of whites, blues, and silvers that we incorporated into the overall decorating with over 2500 white lights to “tent” the gym. There was a fantastic meal with appetizers and beverages, followed by an amazing salad at each place setting, and bread bowls filled with potato cheese and ham soup, and finally a dessert bar with all the sugar you could want. It was all very delicious and there was a lot of labor that went into the set-up and meal. I was the orchestrator behind the set-up and meal, but certainly could not have carried it all out without some amazing help. My good friend JANE was in charge of the Program part of the evening as she is our Ward Choir Director. The program was very well put together with a great slideshow to accompany. There is some serious musical talent in Baton Rouge 2nd Ward (two of which are my husband and my sister in law). We were able to hear from them as well as several others Saturday night and the spirit that was present during the program was really obvious. Although there were some really awesome games earlier in the evening, the program sealed the party as tremendous success. Thank you Jane, and everyone involved, for all of the hard work. It was certainly noticed and appreciated.
Finally, our children are in for a good Christmas. I’m really looking forward to just being at home and hanging out with the family. No real running around involved and I’m going to embrace it. Annie is at a really fun age and should be thrilled to see the Christmas catastrophe. I’m also really excited that Christmas falls on a Sunday this year. I feel like that’s the way it should be since really this all about CHRIST…Merry Christmas friends, family, blog stalkers and anyone else who is reading this. We feel really blessed and hope you feel the same. We should be posting a little more regularly here in the near future.
