Memorial Day Weekend Road Trip

We took a long road trip this past weekend to Jacksonville, Florida specifically to watch the U.S.A. vs. Scotland soccer game.  The game was great as you'll see from the pictures below, but the company for the duration of the trip was even better.  Mom & Pop Mangum came along for this ride and it was pretty fantastic.  My sister who lives near Orlando also met up with us near Jacksonville and we were able to hang out for about 36 hours.  Craig & Jordan and their 4 children drove down to Jacksonville from North Carolina and Aaron and Jeni flew from Alexandria, LA.

A few interesting things happened on our trip:
  • Annie's first trip to the Beach.  First beach stop in Pensacola, Florida (Gulf Coast) and second at Jacksonville Beach (Atlantic Ocean).
  • Took Annie to the Emergency Room Friday Night/Saturday Morning for breathing treatments and an ear infection.
  • Recent Shark Attacks at Jacksonville Beach the prior week made swimming a little intimidating.
  • Watched Lucy Mangum return to swimming in the ocean after her BIG scare last year fighting off a shark.
  • Tropical Storm Beryl took direct aim at Jacksonville Beach on Sunday.
  • Watched the U-S-of A whip up on Scotland in a 5-1 victory.

This red wig is haunting me.  There are little pieces of red Afro hair everywhere.  It did help pass a little time in the car for the drive home.
